This is a large species from Sulawesi with bulbs up to 2 inches and leaves up to 14 inches. The inflorescence can be up to 18 inches long and can have as many as 4 successively blooming flowers. It likes to be kept moist, but allow to dry slightly between waterings. Most find this easy to grow.
The large yellow flowers have a waxy texture.
It prefers light shade and warm temperatures, and can be grown mounted or in a large pot with a fast draining mix. Some consider it a subspecies of Bulbophyllum amplibracteatum.
